Vance Provey plays trumpet and drums, Bob Gorry is on electric guitar, and Paul Gunsberg hits the drums as well as blows the sax on eight loose and free originals. Gorry’s guitar is tuned and played in a rock fashion, with Provey squeezing notes like he’s spitting out grapefruit seeds on “Cyclone” or rambling on the bluesy “Miles To Go”. Provey mutes his horn to Gorry’s bowed strings on the abstract “Convolution”, with meandering sighs on the open “Still Time” and fragmented “Savage Detectives”. Sighs and chimes sound like a Jackson Pollock painting on “Strap Hanger”, and valve experiments take place as the three make like they are rehearsing for something on “Iron Mike”.
