The Nighthawks: Tryin’ To Get To You

Rocking the blues since the 1970s, The Nighthawks still pack a wallop. Here, everyone sings, with Mark Wenner on the howling harp, Dan Hovey mixing up Gibsons and Teles, Mark Stutso shuffling the drums and Paul Pisciotta throbbing the bass on some juke jointing jumpers. The team takes a trip to Chicago as they trudge through some muddy waters on a greasy “Chairman of the Board” while the team boogies till dawn on “Somethin’s Cookin’”. Hovey is swinging hard on T-Bone Walker’s “I Know Your Wig Is Gone” and the rhythm team is steaming on James Brown’s burner “Tell Me What I Did Wrong”. The gritty riffs on “Don’t Worry Baby” and the wailing harmonica on “Come Love” make the earth shake. These guys still dress well in blue.
