You can tell that Mick Rossi and Johnnie Valentine have worked on music including TV and movie soundtracks, as this collection of songs by the duet sounds like it needs some visuals to go along with it. Rossi plays keyboards and percussion, and Valentino uses his guitar and “sound designer” skills to creates a wide palate of collaborative originals.
You get a plethora of soundscapes with echoey guitars with vibrato and dark meanderings on pieces like “Spores” or Sci-Fi effects on the thrashing “Quarentinii” while you can visualize wandering into a dark cave of stalactites on the percussive “Scrupulosity”. Rossi’s piano is featured on the dramatic and shadowy “Eraser Foot’ and there are ENO-ish effects on the Middle Eastern pulsed “Hazmat Will Travel” and the spacey “Nacho Jones” with a ruminating bass line guiding the path.
Some pretty acoustic guitar teams with fluid drumming on “Conversations with Kit” and sitar tones go into a deep space with piano extrapolations for “What Next”. Music for Netflix?
