I usually don’t review eps, but because Justin Hayward released a key fusion album during his days with the Moody Blues (Days of Future Passed), and we’re doing a celebration of that genre, I’ll cut him some slack.
These two songs find Hayward in excellent voice, with the pastoral “One Summer Day” finding Hayward telling a story with rich support, and “My Juliette” having a 60s feel all the way down to the Mersey Beat pulsation. The latter includes a nod to the classic song “Moon River”, with the feel an optimistic jaunt. Hopefully this is a hint of a new album coming up on the horizon, with a Moody tour coming once this stupid COVID thing is done away with.
