A dozen original swampy blues are served up homemade style by Scott Ellison as he sings and palyes a wide variety of guitars along with a mix and match rotating team of guitars, bass, drums, percussion, harmonica and Hammond B3.
Ellison’s voice sounds like a guy that’s been hitchhiking in the sun all day, rasping over the New Orleans beat of “I’m Missing You” and searing along with a Chicago-toned guitar on “These Blues Got A Hold On Me”. A couple of the tunes have Chuck Berry riffs that boogie hard, as on “All Wound Up”, while Ellison does the stroll on “Coming Down From Loving You”. Ellison’s guitar is slick as the team shuffles hard on “Skyline Drive” and the team boogies a rivulet on “Something About You”, “Perfect For You” and “Overwhelmed”. A nice 70s feel with acoustic and electric guitar produces a peppy “Breathe Underwater” and earth tones are painted with a big brush on “Lonely In Love”. Street wise sounds.
