Dana Sandler sings “musical settings” of selected children’s poetry from the notorious Nazi Terezin Concentration camp that served as a half way house to extermination of countless Jews. She’s supported by Carmen Staaf/p, Jorge Roeder/b, Austin McMaon/dr, Peter Kenagy /tp-fh, Rick Stone/as-cl, Michael Winograd/cl and Rory Sandler McMahon/voc for the twelve pieces that range from folksy “”Home/The Old Home” to gentle “The Butterfly” and a delicate “Tears”. The woodwinds are soft along with Staaf on “Untitled” and “I’d Like to Go Alone/Ani Ma’amin” with “The Butterfly” innocently skating along”. There’s a mix of innocence to the lyrics and sounds, which contrasts with our intake with the knowledge of the future. Deeply felt, thought and delivered.
