Eliza Neals: Black Crow Moan

Singing like she’s trapped inside a deep well, Eliza Neals shouts it out strong while also playing keyboards along with a rotating tram of guitarists, bassists, drummers, keyboardists and backing singers. Almost all of the tunes come from he indigo-soaked pen, as she snarls over Mike Puwal’s sliding guitar on “Don’t Judge The Blues” and gets dark on the organ grinding “River IS Rising” . Joe Louis  Walker brings his searing guitar on the slithering “The Devil Don’t Love You” and the long shadowed title tune.while Neals sounds vulnerable as she reaches out on “Never Stray.” Derek St. Holms’ guitar brings out the vulnerable in Neals on “Never Stray” while the two erupt like Mt Vesuvius on a searing take of the classic “Ball And Chain”. A hit and run driver-anyone get the license plate?!?
