Al Gold: Paradise

Rich and rootsy tunes by guitarist Al Gold rake you to juke joints on this selection of original blues breakers. He’s got a dark, gritty and wonderfully rasp of a voice, and his guitar ranges from a delta slider on “Paradise (Downtown) to a snaky and snarling Chicago grit on the wailing “Won’t Sleep Tonight”. The rhythm team of Jerry Cordasco/dr, Eric Heilner/p, Terry Hemmer-VD King” shuffle deep on the two stepper “Mr. Banker” and give a funky “What’d I Say” feel to “Maplehood Limbo”. Gold picks and grins on the ominous “Tramps  Take Linden” and grooves with B3er Jared Gold on the shuffling “Paradise (Uptown)”. Comfort food that stays with you.
