Strong grooves and progressive lines are laid out by drummer Ernesto Cervini as he brings together a rocking team of alto saxist Luis Deniz, electric bassist Rich Brown and guest guitarist Nir Felder on these seven originals plus one. Of the one standard, “Softly As In A Morning Sunrise” is given a clever flamenco intro by Brown before the team jumps in and goes prog rock. Brown also works overtime as he dances with Cervini on “The Sneaky Two” and pulsates a bluesy groove for Cervini’s ride cymbal on “Forward Motion” The team builds up to a rousing avalanche of a climax as Cervini deftly guides the team and solos with power on “Boo Bradley”. The tam is funky with Felder’s tensile tone on “Summit Song” and the group gets pretty for Deniz’s alto for “Wandering”. The beat goes on in this one!
