Trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis leads an 18+ Big Band and a surfeit of welcome guests to this album that is long on party atmospheres. The team gets into a funky blues with earth toned vocalist Tonya Boyd-Cannon teamed with the leader on the festive title track while Dr. Brice Miller’s trumpet teams with the boogie woogie piano of Kyle Roussel and TBC on “So New Orleans”. The sax section swings had on “7th Ward Boogaloo” and a festival atmosphere with Roger Lewis’ baritone sax hits the streets on “Blackbird Special”. A vocal chorus pleads on “Let Your Hand Be Free” and the team struts down Bourbon Street on “Caribbean Second Line”. Celebrations are shouted out on this one, with the Crescent City roots going deep into the bayou.
