Soulful jazz reminiscent of vintage Joe Sample is produced by Bob Baldwin as he plays the piano and keyboards in sleek settings with a core team of Café’ Da Silva/perc, Tony Lewis/dr, Dave Anderson/b and a mix and match of guests. He actually goes solo on an upbeat synthy R&B pulse on a disco-mooded “Keep Movin’” while a husky voiced Lori Williams does a romantic duet on the supply “No Longer Lost”. Williams is rich and blue for a funky Michael Jacksonish “Club Life” as well, while Chris Harris’ guitars give a CTI-era George Benson hip feel for “Fly Breeze”. The mix of percussion and keys give a peppy punch to “Sorry (Not Sorry)” with a darker gospel 6/8 lilt to the dramatic title piece. Bassist Tres Gilbert gives some thumb snapping sizzle to “In The Moment” and the soul strutting with horns on “Club Life”. Lots here to keep you moving!
