The vocal team of tenors Jean-Baptiste Craipeau, Simon Akesson, Danny Fong, Andrew Kesler, baritonist James Rose and bass man Evan Sanders go a cappella with rich harmonies as well as combining them in instrumental settings on this rewarding Christmas session. Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band supplies oomph for a joyful “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” and a hip “Let It Show!” with some reverential orchestrations for an Old World “O Holy Night” and “lush “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.” On their own, the harmonies are richly palpable on the traditional “Jul, Jul, Stralande Jul” and the fun “Christmas Carol Medley” while the nasal French tones of “Petit Papa Noel” is a Gallic delight.
