Tenor and soprano saxist Joel Miller conducts a large jazz orchestra through a number of his sophisticated compositions on this album. There is a centerpiece of a six-movement “What You Can’t Stop” that features reeds and woodwinds akin to a movie soundtrack, filled with clever percussion and Old World reeds. Dreamy clarinets on “Pachamama” and spacey flutes float in textures for “Intro” and “Gyre” respectively, with some rocking beats and brass for “Finale” and a bluesy “Intro.” Is there a Marvel Comics to go along with this?
