Benjamin CS Boyle & Robert Convery: Voyages

Inspired by the poems of Hart Crane, Robert Convery and Benjamin CS Boyle put together music in cantata form. The first, 1994’s “Voyages” is a six part piece performed by unaccompanied choir. There are rich sonorities, somber reflections, and lovely harmonies that yearn and evoke rich emotions and contemplations. Boyle’s “Voyages” from 2018 includes an eleven piece string ensemble with the voices. Dimitri German delivers a rich baritone on “Aria: And So, Admitted Through Black Swollen Gates” with Daniel Taylor also joining in here and also on “Aria: This Tendered Theme Of You” with Karen Blanchard producing a haunting ”Seascape.” Music that evokes rich visceral thoughts
