Wonderful Brazilian moods are created by pianist and arranger Antonio Adolfo, leading a rich rhythm team of Lula Galvao/g, Jorge Helder/b, Rafael Barata/dr and Dada Costa/perc along with a warm bodied horn section. The velvety horns add texture to well known pieces to the suave “Corcovado” and give a bopping feel to “The Frog.” An interpretation of music from Herbie Hancock’s Empyrean Isles album is given a nice Brazilian lilt on “Hello, Herbie” and some nice nylon strings by Galvao create a sublime atmosphere on “Tristeza De Nos Dois.” Adolfo’s own piano is sweet on “So Por Amor” and upbeat on “Ceu E Mar.” Dainty, delicate and delightful.
