The Jamie Saft Quartet: Hidden Corners

Moods that harken to vintage John Coltrane are delivered by pianist/composer Jamie Saft and along with superstar Davie Liebman on saxes and flute, Bradley Christopher Jones on bass and drummer Hamid Drake. Liebman on tenor taps into latter da ‘Trane as he’s frisky along with some hip bass and piano pulse on “Positive Way” while Saft is full fisted on a bluesy “Hidden Corner” and is splashy as Liebman screeches on “Seven Are Double.” Saft prances like Tyner on “Yesternight” while Drake hits like Jones durning Liebman’s meditative flute excursion during “231 Gates” some contemplative journey to Monument Valley is produced on “The Anteroom.” The team is in an Impuse!-ive mood.
