Eliane Elias is one of the queens of making the most out of less as she keeps it soft, simple and sotto on this orchestral album tribute to the classic summit meeting between Frank Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim.
The strings sway like a gentle breeze on delicate takes like the samba’d “A Man and A Woman” with a touch of Don Sebesky’s fingerprint on “Bonita.” Piano and strings get bluesy on her read of “Angel Eyes” and are fluid and invitingly restrained during “Come Fly With Me.” Elias gives a nice piano interlude to “Little Boat” and she gets dreamy on both “ The Simplest Things” and the closing “The View.” Songs and moods that are tall, tan, young and lovely.
