Pianist Greg Burk gives a lyrical solo outing on 15 of his compositions for this album. He has an authority to his touch, working well on folksy pieces like the flowing “One Day” and prancing with confidence on the darker “Sun Salutation.” While most of the songs such as “The Union” and “Serena Al Telefono” are strong on melody, Burk can also get a bit frisky, as he scrambles on “Into The Rapids” and gives Satie-esque impressions on “The Slow Hello.” Suave pieces like the title track and the elegant “Love Wins” beg strong compositions like these to be interpreted by some jazz giants. Any takers?
