GEMS FROM BRAZIL..Duduka Da Fonseca & Helio ALves Featuring Maucha Adnet: Samba Jazz & Tom Jobim, Ricardo Peixoto: Scary Beautiful

Wonderful sounds from Brazil…

Drummer Duduka Da Fonseca forms a core trio wit pianist Helio ALves and bassist Hans Glawishnig, with guest appearances by guitar great Romero Lubambo, saxist BillyDrews and golden voiced Maucha Adnet on this lilting collection. Warm toned trumpeter Claudio Roditi guests in on the bouncy bopper Gemini Man” and Wynton Marsalis stars on a post modern dream of “Avontade Mesmo,” teaming up with Lubambo in the process. Drews’ soprano combines with Lubambo on the sleek “Alana” while his tenor floats with him and Adnets luscious voice on a sublime “ Dindi.” A vintage bossa is delivered      with the three on “Voce Vai Ver” and a driving “Polo Pony.” Drewes gallops through “A Correnteza” with the core trio kinetic on “Helium.” A true joy!

Ricardo Peixoto play electric and 7 string acoustic guitar in a wide range of settings on this sublime and pastoral album. His environments range from a lovely solo serenade on “Noturna” building up to an intimated conversation with pianist Marcos Silva on the lovely “Simpatica” to chaber settings with Claudia Villela’s ethereal voice on “Nereids. “ An upbeat “Baiao de Tres” is an upbeat samba with Bob Afifii’s flute, while Paul McCandless brings his Oregon toned soprano to the spacious “Circles.” Dainty woodwinds arranged by Jasnam Daya Singh produce a lovely “Pixinguinga” and a hip bass line by Scott Thomas gives punch to “Morro da Paixao.” All throughout, Peixoto’s strings are caressed with grace, style and soft substance. This is a richly textured collection of colors, suitable for framing.
