Women from all around the globe feature their singing and composing skills on this latest Putumayo release. As with most wonderful music, bossa nova is on the horizon, and Fernanda Cunha is gloriously nasal on “Amanheceu” while Elle & Elles give a more Gaul version on the French “Samba Le.” US folk sounds with German language from CajsaStina Akerstrom is a treat on “Ar Det Har Det Kanns Att Komma Hem” (dare to sing along?!) and we even get a Danishtreat with Stine Michel whisping a bluegrassy “Frejas Indblik.” Buka gives a poppish “La Falsa Moneda” with her husky voice and the Mediterranean is explored by Canan Uzerli on the rich “Zaman.” Upbeat and inviting.
