Norman Johnson plays guitar and just about anything else, particularly programming on this smooth and upbeat collection of R&B pulsed originals. His picking is clean with synthesized percussion on “Slide” and with Grason Hugh on vocal, the group is in an optimistic attitude for “Sing On.” Atla DeChamplain is breezy along with Johnson’s acoustic strings for “the title track and Bill Holloman’s horns team with Johnson’s hip hoppy groove on “Old Skool” while his tenor sax blows hard on the Africa themed “Summer Dance.” Hard not to smile on this one!
