Trumpeter Michael C. Lewis has a tone as big as his heart on this soulful and smooth collection of rhythmic grooves. Besides horn, he also plays keyboard rhym tracks, flugel horn and even sings a dash with a rotating supporting team including Andre Carrier/g, Jermain McQueen/dr, Billy Patterson/g, Gerald Trottman/ky and some piano solo work from Alva Nelson.
Alto saxist Walter Beasley adds extra soul to the R&B ish “Reasons” while dashes of Stevie Wonder’d Motown is felt on the hip title track and cozy “ Make Me Say It Again.” Lewis’ muted horn creates lush moods for “Soulful Atmosphere” while he opens up with some wacka wooka Soul Train grooves for “Miles To Go.” Smooth, soulful and danceable.
