Vocalist, trumpeter and leader Mike Field takes his band on a wide ranging and energetic collection of originals. The team, which includes Russ Boswell-George Koller/b, Mark Camilleri/p-orb, Jerry Caringi/acc, Davide DiRenzo/dr, Tony Zorzi-Dominic Mancuso/g and Rosendo Leon/perc take you on frantic journeys such as “Mechanic” all the way to Chasson bohemin on”The Gohost and the Paperboy.” On horn and voice, Field knows how to swing as on “Tu Vuo’ Fa L’Americano” and “West Side of Town” and the rhythm team gets funky on “Out of This World” with the band getting a bit folksy as Field is earnest on “Autumn Lovesong.” Eager to please.
