The best thing about this album by vocalist/accordionist Vincent Peirani and his band of Emile Parisien/ss, Tony PAeleman/key, Julien Herne’/b, Yoann Serra/dr and Valentin Liechti/el is that he has absolutely no shame in what song he’s willing to interpret. Anyone who starts an album off with the Sonny and Cher bubblegum hit “Bang Bang” is a winner in my book, and they do wonders with it with the pulsating electric bass and sinewy soprano sax. Likewise a pair of Led Zeppelin tunes include a Middle Eastern mooded “Kashmir” and a dreamy “Stairway to Heaven.” Some Left Bank Moods deliver bohemia on “Night Walker” and pretty “Smoke and Miirors” while the band sgets playful on “Le Clown Sauveur De La Fete Foraine.” Rich broad paint brush strokes work wonders here.
