Famed for his work with both Gordon Goodwins’ Big Phat Band and Brian Setzer’s Orchestra, drummer extraordinaire Bernie Dresel goes through his iphone to call up some of LA’s finest for s hard hitting and swinging collection of originals and hip standards.
All Stars Carl Saunders/tp, Brian Scanlon/as-ss, Andrew Synowiec/eg and Bob Lockart/ts take most of the solos, and a guest cameo by the LA Clarinet Choir make “BBB Opener” and “Bern Bern Bern” swinging hoots. The team swaggers to Dresel’s shuffle on “Got Groove” and the band rocks for “The Summit.” A boppy “All the Things” and fun and funky “The World Is A Ghetto” are fun and extroverted while Dresel is in tom tom heaven for “Zuit Soot.” Put on your dancing shoes!
