Rich ideas flow from the fingertips of Ehud Asherie as he leads his trio of Peter Washington/b and Rodney Green/dr through a mix of jazz standards and Latin lovers. His touch is clean and uptown on a fun take of Louis Armstrong’s title track, is rich in his undulating intro to a slow and sublime “Lady Be Good.” Green is peppy on “Flying Down to Rio” and suavely enters stage left after a soft intro to “Na Baixa Do Sapateiro.” As for bop standards, Asherie is languid on a bluesy “Parker’s Mood” and baroque on a fugue-a-ditty of “Chasin’ the Bird.” Lots of creative moments here and fresh keyboard concepts.
