Danny Lynn Wilson: Peace of Mind

Danny Lynn Wilson plays guitar and sings like a minstrel on these troubadour’d tracks with a core support of Dave Gross/g-banjo-p-org, Matt Raymond/b, Ray Hangen/dr and a rotating team of guests. He writes all of the material, and it comes across like a mix of the sounds of Leon Redbone and the observations of early Tom Waits, as he gets intimate and personal on “Love Only You” and harrowing with echoey guitar for “Sympathy For Your Man.” The mix of guitars, banjo and various folksy instruments take you to rural back roads on “Peace of Mind,” “Middle Class Blues” and “Fuss ‘N Fight” while getting a bit 70s rocking for
“Arkansas Trotter.” Some breezy jazz pulses slide in for “No Walls” and the team gets funky on “Too Many Hounds,” but overall you feel like the travelling side show has come to your town, so step right up and wait for the elixir salesman.
