Pianist/vocalist Paul Oscher puts out an album and single that has him in a bluesy and rootsy mood on this collection of indigo’d originals.
He teams up with Johnny Ace/-Sarah Brown/b, Mike Keller-Mike Schermer/g, Chris Alcaraz-Kid Andersen/b, Russell Lee-June Core, Tom Robinson/ts, Eric Burnhardt/bs and other guest as he takes you down Bourbon Street for a fun “Money Makin’ Woman’” while going Professor Longhair as he strides through “”Cool Cat (Jazz Quartet).” He recites poems and tells stories between some of the songs, digging into the 50s R&B scene on “Poor Man Blues” and doing the Stroll on “Hide Out Baby.”
This two part “Cool Cat” has pianist/vocalist Paul Oscher bringing in an easy New Orleans feel to the rich and laid back blues. His voice is well worn and traveled, and with a team of Sarah Brown/b, Mike Keller/g, Russell Lee-June Core/dr, Tom Robinson/ts and Lisa Leuschner/voc he takes you to a late night juke joint with a hip little prologue and journey to the side streets. Nicely faded jeans.
