Bluesy singer/songwriter and guitarist Terry Blersh serves up some meat and potatoes on these eleven tunes that are concise and cooking. He has a core team of Al Cross/dr, Lance Anderson-Denis Keldie/key-p and a rotating bass chair along with various guests. He gives off a hip NO Calypso on the rocking “Treat Me Right” while with John Finley on street wise vocals and Gene Hardy on tenor sax, the team steams through “It’s All Right.” A hip read of the classic “King Creole” is poured slowly, while Blersh shows his chops on the boogie-ing “Jammin’ II.” The B3 shuffles along with Blersh on “(Maybe) It Ain’t Too Late” and Jimmy Bowskill’s mandolin on the polka-mooded “I’ll See You In My Dreams” and raspy voiced take of the vintage “Early Morning Rain” is a thoughtful joy. Impressively trusting clarity and drive over mindless chops.
