Playing electric, baritone and fretless guitars, Ryan Meagher brings together the unorthodox combo of electric guitar (Mike Gamble), alto and soprano sax (Lee Elderton, tenor sax (Tim Willcox), and two drummers (Charlie Doggett & Tim Duroche” for eleven loose and free originals. Somewhere, there is a melody in the moody “I Am Complicit in the Murder of Our Oceans” and the frisky “Cave Loop,” but you might have to charge for a finders fee. The guitars serve as breezy drapers for the mediative “For Mom” and the strings ruminate on “The Blood Albinos of Hicks Roads,” with the drums rustling like oak leaves on the “Laurel and Yanny.” Pieces of a puzzle shaking around, with maybe a few creating a hint of a picture or two.
