Adison Evans shows chops and style galore as she tames the unwieldy baritone sax and bass clarinet with a simpatico team of Troy Roberts/ts, Mat Jodrell/tp-fh, Lilvano Monastrios/p, Joseph Lepore/b, Robert Giaquinto/dr and guests Jeremy Smith/perc and Vasko Dukovski/cl. Her tone is warm and breathy, caressing themes such as the gentle title track with Monastrios or cruising over the post bop “Owl People” with aplomb. The front line of saxes and trumpet create molten gold on the peppy hard bopper “The Parking Song” and the flowing “Two For The Road.” She teams her bass clarinet with Dukovski’s ebony stick for a dainty “Prelude and Fugue n D minor/The Plunge” while her flute on “Komorebi” flows like a stream. As she demonstrates on the back photo, she sure is flexible, but judging by the tunes here, she’s also muscular.
