STILL ON A ROLL…The Rolling Stones: No Security-San Jose ‘99

The Rolling Stones were on a roll back in 1999 with Mick, Keith, Charlie and Ron along with long time saxist Bobby Keys/ts, Tim Ries/sax-key, Darryl Jones/b, Chuck Leavell/key, Michael Davis/tb, Kent Smith/tp and a trio of backing vocalists. This 2 disc-Blu Ray has the band at the end of its American tour, and are rough and ready with no gimmicks as they deliver street fighting versions of “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” “Paint It Black,” “Brown Sugar” and “It’s Only Rock and Roll.” Pleasant surprises are the return to (pun intended) roots with a smoking “Route 66” as well as a hip “Get Of My Cloud,” while more recent “Out of Control” “Saint of Me” and “Before They Make Me Run” fit in well to the canon. Jagger is in Dorian Gray vintage form and Watts keeps things swinging while Richards and Woods embody the swagger of the band. One of the best releases of latter day Stones.
