The eclectic team of Darius Luke Thompson/vi, Cabbar Baba/perc-voc, Maxim Shohedrovitzki/oud, Pavlos Mavromatakis/davul-voc, Miraslav Morski/g-voc, Fred stitz/b-tb, Moshe Zehavi/g, Pablo Dominguez/g-caj, Kansia Pritchard/ww, Madhav Haridas/sax and Oshan Mahony/g create a varying mix of Mediterranean moods made for dancing and late nightclubs on this infectious and joyous album. Material is sung in languages ranging to Bulgarian to French while Moroccan dances and pulsations surge on “Riders” and “Hamouda.” A mix of Greek folk with a Bulgarian choir adds a dash of Irish flute on a jazzy yet traditional “Sinko Moy” while some Santana-inspired guitar sears through the Sahara on “Samia.” Exotic folk sounds from the clarinet take you to the Aegean sea on “Nadhavski Horo” while you’ll think you’re in an Armenian wedding with hip hopping exoticism during “Hackney.” This one’s a feast!
