Vocalist and pianist Noa Fort keeps it intimate and simple on this album with Zack Lober/b, Ronen Itzik/dr and Josh Deutsch/tp on this collection of (mostly) her own material. Her voice is clear and crystalline, calm and patient on the dreamy pieces that let Lober lead the way as on “Now is Our Time” and the bluesy “Variations on Longing.” She slinks along with Deutsch’s horn on “Just Wait” and is luminous during her poetic delivery of “Winter Requiem.” Some dark minor chords fit well as she sings in Hebrew on the moody and dramatic “Empty S pace” while she shows here funky side on “Unwritten Signs” and gives a flute-like tone to her voice on the reflective “Mirrors.” Intimate moments.
