Keyboardist, composer and producer Charlie Peacock brings some soulful jazz to the table with Jeff Coffin/sax-ww, Ben Perowsky/dr, Felix Pastorius/b, Hilmar Jensson/g and various guests. The team gets into an exotic mood with Coffin’s warm tenor on “Masters of War” and with Andy Leftwich’s mandolin, the festivity begins on “Gift Economy.” Matthew White’s trumpet is lovely on “The Intimate Lonely” with a a bluesy bass line mixing well with the leader on “Still Water.” Some oblique harmonies create a noir attitude on “Samuel and the Iceland” while some loose funk gets the neck supple on “Blue Part Two.” Fusion with finesse.
