Vocalist Rondi Marsh covers the moods of “falling in and out of love” on this intimate and personal collection of covers and originals. She’s supported by a core team of Ryan Donnelly/b, Aaron Hennings-Don Kinney and Bart Roderick-Dave Gross/p as well as a list of cameos on horns, strings and beyond. Her voice is able to get wispy as on “Flamingo” while turning into a gypsy soul on a feisty take of “Misty” while going bohemia as she plays the role of chanson during “Boy On A Dolphin.”
Her delivery can be full and husky as she goes earthy on a lusty “Mambo Italiano” while pumping on the Harley for effect on the fun and sassy “Black Denim Trousers (and Motorcycle Boots).” The band snaps on “The Bass Song” and gets languid, allowing Marsh to recline during “The Last Call.” Clever selection of tunes as well as how to set the stage for them.
