Guitarist Matteo Liberatore goes solo on this dozen originals, using his strings in a wide variety of motifs. Most successful is his melodic banjo-like picking on “Causeway” or delicate soft strums on “Agnes.” Other times he uses the strings to create scratchy effects as on “MMXVI,” “Chimera” and “Barrea” while tapping percussive sounds on “Gravity” and “Alberto.” Pastoral ambiance takes place during “Coral” and some abstractions are in full supply on “Untitled #9.” Musings with one’s instrument, at times creating music and melody.
