This album by guitarist and biker Kid Ramos remind us that one of the greatest American contributions to Western Civilization (besides The Constitution, baseball and Billy Graham) is the boogie shuffle. Few things are as infectious and irresistible, and Ramos milks it for all its worth on this album with Kedar Roy/b, Marty Dodson//dr, Bob Welsh/key-p and a team of vocalists. Ramos sounds like he’s in 8 to the bar heaven as he grooves on “Kid’s Jump” a blues “Wes Side” and the boogaloo-ing “Mashed Potatoes and Chili.” With Welsh at the oozy Hammond, Johnny Tucker shouts it out on the fun trucking “Tell Me What You Want” and Kim Wilson sizzles to the hip “High Society.” Ramos himself takes the mic for the 50s ditty “Heartbeat”, the romantic “Anna” and groaning blues rocker “All Your Love” while swinging the daylights out of a wonderfully re-thought “Mona Lisa.” This guy could make Karen Carpenter swing!
