Guitarist Cameron Mizell goes solo with just guitar, imagination and a supply of pedals on his collection of improvisations/compositions. At times, he makes the instrument sound akin to a vamping keyboard (“A Turning Point”) or even a piano (“A Toast”) while using the pedals for long tones and ambiance on “Melting.” The moods are mostly recalcitrant, going pastoral with pedals on “We’ll Find Our Way Out of This Mess” are gently reflective on the title track. He even digs into the delta for “Decisions” and goes acoustic on a pensive “Vulnerabilities.” Soft shadows.
