Gabriele Tranchina: Of Sailing Ships and the Stars in Your Eyes

Vocalist Gabriele Tranchina teams up with keyboardist/composer Joe Vincent Tranchina and a flexible team of Carlo De Rosa/b, Vince Cherico/dr and Renato Thoms/perc for a multi-language collection of songs delivered with the style of a Latin Lover.

She slithers with the timbales on a salsa’d read of “Autumn in New York” with going romantic with Tranchina’s piano while cooing in Portuguese on “Vera Cruz.” Her delivery is defiant on the Italian-tongued Meglio Stasera” with percolating percussion, and can linger with the best with yearning French during “Je Crois Enendre Encore.” Most clever is taking the Teutonic “Ein Alter Tibetteppich” and putting it into a Latin groove, while the exotic “A Song For India” stretches out for ten minutes with nasally voice, flowing grooves and South Asian harmonies. A vocal trip around the world with a South American interpreter!
