Pianist Matija Dedic teams up with reedist Jure Pukl along with Matt Brewer/b and Johnathan Blake/dr for a mix of post bop beauties. Pukl’s tenor is Rollins-thick, and is used well on the tricky obstacle course of the title track while blowing a warm wind on “Plan B.” His bass clarinet percolates with Dedic on a brooding “Sequence II” and his soprano teams up with the tenor sax of Melissa Aldana on the wide ranging and exotic “Where Are You Coming From…” while the two also lock horns on the dreamy “Family.” Brewere and Blake show great flexibility, able to get loose as on “Lonely Woman” are make sharp hairpin turns. Impressive post modern tones.
