If you hadn’t known, ex-Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore has been carving out a career of Renaissance-styled music for the past score years, here delivering a two disc Christmas stocking stuffer on this joyful collection of Medieval moods with Candice Night/voc-recorder, Earl grey/g-b, Bard David/key and Scarlet Fiddler/v. The minstrels are festive on cozy versions of traditional pieces such as “Deck the Halls” and “”God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.” A handful of the tunes have rich orchestral sounds that are full and joyfully dramatic. A handful of casual concert performances from Minstrel Hall include wonderful takes of “We Three Kings,” with Blackmore’s guitar glowing like a star in Bethlehem on ”Ma-O-Tzur” while Ms. Glistens like the Ghost of Christmas Present on “Hark!
