Eyal Vilner plays reeds and leads a Shwingin’ band that takes traditional Jewish holiday themes and gives them a kick in the tuchis. He even pulls out the classic Shofar for a moody “Mi Yemalel” while his clarinet sounds like it was made for Woody Herman’s Big Band on a bopping read of “Oh Hannukkah!” The brass is bold on the stately “Prelude” and the saxes wail like it’s the Paramount Theatre in 1935 druing “Maoz Tzur” while the percussion is strong enough to even get Michaela dancing with David on the bright “Sevivon.” This will get your Dreidel spinning!
