The rhythm team never loses its boproots, swinging hard on sepia toned “Für Mary Wigman” and “Lullaby Nightmare” as DeJohnette snaps everyone to attention and Fiuczynski’s edgy guitar sears through the murky waters of Gerschlauer’s alto sax. Rumbling undercurrents are on the King Crimson flavored “November” and “Hangover” as well as the somber “Sofia Im Türkischen Café” while the team gets pastoral on “Last Chance” and Gerschlauer’s alto is luminous and glowing during “LaMonte’s Gamelan Jam.” Fans of Crimson, Stick Men or any Tony Levin projects will love this ensemble.
