Drummer Ignacio Berroa teams up with Martin Bejerano/p and Josh Allen-Lowell Ringel/b for some rich and rhythmic sounds from Cuba. The team sounds strong and confident on bopping pieces such as “Alma Con Alma” and “Deja Que Siga Solo” with Herroa nudging the team forward, while flexing some muscles on “Me Recordaras.” Bejerano’s piano his bluesy on “La Tarde” and graciously glowing on “the soft “No Te Importe Saber.” Conrado Garcia adds percussion on the sizzling “Los Tres Golpes,” and with Ruben Blades bringing his rich voice to “Negro De Sociedad” with Garcia’s percolation, you get a steamy night in the plaza.
