Trumpeter Harold Little gets fun and funky on this upbeat and plugged in session. Complete with a heavy backbeat rotating rhythm team, guitars, reeds and even a choir, Akoben swings over a slapping bass on “East of the River” and Headhunting keyboards on “Stomp the Roaches” while grooving over a soulful read of the classic “Take Five.” Heidi Martin brings her rich voice in for a mellow and muted “You Don’t Know What Love Is” while Little gets churchy with Karen Linette’s gospel sound on “We Need Love.” Little’s one on the open horn is Masakela warm, and Miles muted on the Harmon. This is a fun one!
