Catherine Marie Charlton: I Dream About This World

If you remember that the word “piano” original came from the word “piano-forte” alluding to the instrument’s ability to sound “soft” and “loud,” then you’ll appreciate the “piano” in this album by New Age pianist Catherine Marie Charlton. The album is subtitled “The Wyeth Album” supposedly dedicated to the soft art of NC, since the songs are all pastels of tone. Jean Sibelius’ “Granen” and and her won “Off At Sea” are pieces of ambiance while the title track is almost subliminal in delivery. Spaces are used as sounds on “Off at Sea” and “A Walk” wile gentle reflections are barley palpable on “Nonesuch (The Wind)”. This album is almost more felt than heard.
