Jackiem Joyner plays various saxes and produces this sleek R&B infested smooth jazz album that is filled with upbeat moments. The core team of Raymond Johnson/dr, Carnell Harrell/key and Kyle Bolden-Daryl Williams/b are augmented by guest vocalists, horns and guitars, keeping the grooves coming in different shades and styles.
You get a synth gospel feel on “That Good Thing” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling” with Joyner’s soprano sounding nice and Sunday Morning’d on the latter.” Some funky bass lines get you rubber necking on “Southside Boulevard” and Joyner’s tenor is rich and old school R&B on “Back to Motown.” All of the tunes are catchy, easy on the ears, and made to get you dancing. While Joyner does some amazing sax work and programming on a very clever “Addicted” and “Don’t Make Her Wait.” Smooth sailing.
