CHICAGO’S DEEP DISH…Robert Lamm: Time Chill

Best known as one of the founding members of the jazz/rock originator Chicago, vocalist Robert Lamm is given a retrospective here of his solo material from 2003-2012 with a few unreleased pieces as well. For those CTA fans,  you get a JVE Remix of the hit “Does Anyobody Really Know What Time It Is” with a clever use of African percussion. His voice at this stage is well sanded, coming off like vintage Bill Withers on the R&B-ish “Sleeping in the Middle of the Bed” and ”Out of the Blue” while mixing jazzy chords with samba on “Sing to Me Lady,” a hip groove to  “Send Rain” and some synth percussion on the more poppish “Everyday, It’s Always Something.” Nice way to catch up with an Old School voice.
