A delicate and simpatico meeting between vocalist Danielle Wertz and pianist Tal Cohen takes place on this sublime collection of songs. Wertz’s soft voice is delicate and sublime on the wordless title track, and dreamy with reflective regret on the read of “But Not For Me.” She gives a mix of cabaret and bohemia for pieces such as “Manhattan in the Rain” while flowing with gentle warmth with Cohen during “Chopin Meets Abach.” Tenor saxist Jaime Oehlers brings his breathy tone to “Beautiful Love,” making you wish for an encore, but less is successfully considered more here on this intimate collection of musical conversations.
